Do you dream of being an artist? Develop and refine your drawing and painting skills to produce your own artworks ready to exhibit and sell. Experiment with different mediums and learn essential techniques to develop your artistic skills. You will develop a range of artworks for exhibition by the end of the course.

You will develop your drawing skills, explore techniques for working with paint mediums such as watercolours and acrylics and develop your own artistic style. This course is suitable for both adult learners as well as high school students to complete as part of the VET in Schools programme.

Qualification & Units of Competency:

On successful completion of the course, students will receive the nationally recognised CUV30111: Certificate III in Visual Arts qualification.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

Have your experience recognised and increase your employment prospects by enrolling in Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). Through RPL you could reduce the duration of your studies. Get the recognition you deserve and enquire about RPL today.

RPL assessed on a case by case basis, so it is only available on application. Students will be charged $200 per unit of competency.

Course Duration:

Full Time: This course runs over 11 weeks, 3 days per week from 9am - 3.30pm

Part Time: The course is to be completed over one day a week over 1 year on Fridays from 9am-3:30pm.

Required Equipment & Additional Costs:

Students will need to provide the following equipment:

  • Basic stationary: i.e. display folders, notepad, pens, pencil, rubber. (approx: $50)
  • Desired art materials for home use.
  • Student's will require a laptop computer with Microsoft Office installed- see below for details.

Learning resources and use of equipment will be supplied during the course.

LAPTOP / NOTEBOOK REQUIREMENT:

Students accepted into the program will be required to have a laptop computer with a wireless network connection. The following minimum specifications are required:

  • Wireless 802.11n
  • Minimum 8Gb RAM
  • CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive
  • 2Ghz or faster processor
  • Web Browser (i.e. Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Firefox or Safari) (free online)
  • Anti Virus - Students will not be allowed to connect to our network without Anti Virus installed.
  • Adobe Acrobat Reader (free online)
  • Microsoft Office 2007 or better with Word, Excel and Powerpoint.*
  • Adobe Creative Suite - Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.*

* Please check software manufacturers minimum system requirements.

Course Fees

Upon enrolling in the course, the student (and guarantor/s) becomes liable to the institute for the full course fees.

Certificate III in Visual Arts (Painting & Drawing) - Full Time:

Full Course Cost (Payment Plan): $3,300.00
  • Balance paid in weekly direct debit instalments (with integraPAY) over course duration: $3,000.00

Application and Enrolment Process:

  1. Attend an interview at the college and complete an interview test - phone (07) 55 938 335 to arrange your interview. (If you live outside the South East Qld Region and are unable to attend an interview, contact us to have the application forms posted to you).
  2. Fill out and return the Application Form (this can be completed at the interview).
  3. Students will recieve their acceptance/non-acceptance letter and enrolment pack in the mail - including enrolment form, payment plan forms and the student handbook.
  4. After reading the student handbook and enrolment forms, students who wish to enrol must submit the enrolment form with the course deposit to secure their position in the course.
