Turn your artworks into digital designs that can be printed on a range of products!

Extend your creativity and learn painting and drawing techniques with a range of mediums to enable you to create exciting and unique artworks and designs which can be turned into a range of products. Through learning digital manipulation of your hand created artworks, you can make your art suitable for digital printing on a range of products from homewares, fashion products, gift items and more.

The Diploma course will prepare you with the skills to create exciting designs created from your paintings and drawings or designed on computer exclusively. You will learn how to create repeat prints, various colourways, coordinating prints, colour separations for printing and product specifications.

This qualification reflects the role of visual artists and combines specialised technical, creative and conceptual skills to develop an emerging arts practice. It focuses on developing skills in 2 dimensional art forms such as drawing, painting, illustration, textile design and digital surface design.

As well, you will develop skills and knowledge of art theory and history and be able to critically analyse and synthesise information from a range of sources. Some business skills are also covered so that you will be able to realise your dream of becoming a creative arts practitioner.

Qualification & Units of Competency

Course Code: CUA51115

On successful completion of the course, students will receive the nationally recognised CUA51115: Diploma of Visual Arts qualification. This course is accredited under the Australian Qualifications Training Framework.

Beware of other styling courses that state that they provide students with a Diploma, but are not actually giving a nationally recognised qualification. You can check if a course and training provider is accredited by doing a search on the Training.gov.au website: www.training.gov.au

Course Fees


Recently the government announced that as of the 1st of January 2017 the existing VET FEE-HELP scheme will be replaced with VET Student Loan, however they are yet to release which courses will be eligible for the new Loan arrangement. This new arrangement will impact all Registered Training Organisations that currently offer VET FEE-HELP Approved courses.

Once we receive all details about the new Vet Student Loans, we will update this page and contact all enrolled students.


Although we are waiting on information, the college recommends that if you are interested in commencing this course next year that you enrol to reserve a place in the 2017 intake. Once the government finalises arrangements we will contact you regarding the changes.

Full Course Cost (Payment Plan): $16,500.00
  • Non-Refundable Enrolment Fee: $1,000.00
  • Balance paid in weekly direct debit instalments (with Ezypay) over course duration: $15,500.00

Required Equipment:

Students will need to provide the following equipment:

  • Basic stationary
  • Fabric or product printing costs (varies depending on the items ordered)
  • Student's will require a laptop/notebook computer with the Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office installed- see below for details.


Students accepted into the program will be required to have a laptop computer with a wireless network connection. The following minimum specifications are required:

  • Wireless 802.11n
  • Minimum 4Gb RAM
  • CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive
  • 2Ghz or faster processor
  • Internet Explorer 7 or better (free online)
  • Anti Virus - Students are not permitted to connect to our network without Anti Virus installed.
  • Adobe Acrobat Reader (free online)
  • Microsoft Office 2003 or better with Word, Excel and Powerpoint.*
  • Adobe Creative Suite Design Standard - Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.*
  • A mouse is required.

* Please check software manufacturers minimum system requirements.

Entry Requirements:

To apply for entry to this qualification you will need to attend an interview and bring with you a sample of some your artwork, or have successfully completed our Certificate III in Visual Arts qualification.

Sample Artwork

Sample artwork can be provided in various formats including pictures / digital images. Please provide a range of samples (if you can) preferrably between 7 - 10

Application and Enrolment Process:

  1. Phone the Gold Coast (07) 55 938 335 OR Brisbane (07) 38 541 395 campus to arrange your interview OR fill out the online Application Form and arrange a phone interview if you cannot come into either campus.
  2. Attend your interivew or complete the phone interview.
  3. You will recieve your enrolment paperwork and the student handbook at the interview and information on the required evidence you will have to supply to support your application.
  4. After reading the student handbook and enrolment forms, if you wish to enrol you must submit the enrolment form along with any requested evidence (original or certified copies of originals).Our administration staff will check the completed enrolment form and evidence you supplied to demonstrate your suitability for the course. We may have to ask you further information or discuss your options if you don't meet the suitability requirements for the course. If you do meet the suitability requirements for the course, we will send you a Confirmation of Enrolment, along with a VET FEE-HELP application form or payment plan forms, whichever is applicable.
  5. You will receive your first VET FEE-HELP invoice notice (for students obtaining a VET FEE-HELP loan) no more than one calendar month before the start of study and at least two weeks before the first census date.
