AICD offers intensive short course 'summer school' programmes in January each year at both our Gold Coast and Brisbane campuses. Enrolment is open to anyone - you do not need to be a school student to enroll in one of these exciting courses!

Introduction to Personal Styling/Image Consulting (3 Days)

Learn the basics of personal styling - how to determine a client's figure type and the figure flattery rules, how to determine a client's colouring and what colours will suit them and tips and tricks in starting your own personal styling business!

Introduction to Swimwear Design (5 Days)

Learn how to make your own swimwear! Learn how to make swimwear patterns for your own swimwear designs and sew them professionally. You will learn how to use the industrial machines to make your own swimwear.

Photography (5 Days)

Learn the skills to take professional photos with your Digital SLR Camera. The BASICS - an introduction to DSLR cameras. ISO, SHUTTER SPEEDS and APERTURES. PORTRAITS - natural lighting, reflectors and studio. PHOTOSHOP - introduction and post editing skills for photography. GETTING CREATIVE - elements and principles of design, shooting tips and tricks. FASHION SHOOT - styling, posing, lighting and working with models.

Introduction to Pattern Making* (5 Days)

Over one week learn basic pattern making techniques for skirts, tops, shirts and dresses. Learn how to adjust a block pattern to you own measurements. Pattern make various skirt styles - A-Line, Panel Line, Gore, Yoke, High Waisted, Circular and Pleated. Pattern make various dress/top styles - empire line, princess line, gathered, t-shirt. Shirt's, collars, sleeves. Take a pattern from a basic garment.

Learn the design process - understand what is involved in going from a design idea to a finished collection of garments sold in retail stores. Learn about how to understand textiles - the designers 'tool of the trade', basic fashion illustration and what is involved in starting a fashion label.

Introduction to Make-Up (3 Days)

Learn how to apply makeup professionally – understanding skin types, face shapes and makeup products & their uses. Highlighting and shading to enhance your face. Choosing the right foundation, blush, lip and eye shadow colours for your skin. Creating a natural beauty makeup look, creating the ‘smokey eye’ look, create an evening/glamour makeup look to suit your face and your style.

Beginner Sewing Workshop Course (5 Days)

Never sewn before? Get started with our one week basic sewing course. Students will make a skirt learning techniques such as grain line, inserting invisible zippers, lining, darts and overlocking. After completing the first garment, students will learn important sewing techniques including a variety of different seam finishes and a fly front zip.
